With ridership numbers trending upward for Capital Metro's rail service, it's time for the transit agency to roll out a pilot program to test demand for regular weekend service. And because MetroRail is proving its worth in providing service for special events, Capital Metro also should expand its service.
Reducing the hassle and expense of driving and parking downtown might boost weekend business for central city restaurants and clubs, including those in the East Austin corridor that are easily accessible from several MetroRail stops.
